A recent report from UKG highlights a significant generational divide in the workplace regarding the adoption and understanding of artificial intelligence.
Nearly half of Generation Z employees – 49 percent - believe their bosses do not appreciate the benefits that AI tools bring to the workplace. This disconnect is especially notable given that 90 percent of Gen Z respondents say AI will save them time at work, and 70 percent have taught themselves most of the AI skills they use on the job.
Gen Z is often at the forefront of AI adoption, seeing the technology as a means to simplify and automate everyday tasks, boost productivity, and free up time for more creative or meaningful work.
In a survey of more than 1,100 U.S. workers from various generations, 84 percent expressed a desire for AI to handle workplace processes, and 79 percent believed AI tools could allow them to focus on more important or rewarding aspects of their roles. However, most workers across generations agree that AI should be seen as a tool to support their work rather than as a replacement for human colleagues. They view AI as best suited for repetitive, data-intensive, or time-consuming tasks that require little judgment or are prone to human error.
So, the question for our readers is: Is AI A Tool To Support Workers Or A Tool To Replace Workers?
Here is the opinion of one of the McCalmon editorial staff:
Jack McCalmon, Esq.
AI is tool…for now. Personally, and professionally, I believe it should remain as a tool to make working more efficient and not a tool to replace work or workers.
