Is Gen Z Causing Management Turnover? You Make The Call

According to one survey, managers in the United States are facing significant stress when it comes to overseeing Generation Z employees.

A notable portion of these managers, about 18 percent, have considered leaving their jobs because of the challenges presented by managing Gen Z workers.

These employees, who have grown up during the pandemic and generally lack the traditional workplace experience of previous generations, often cause managers to feel a range of negative emotions, including frustration, stress, disappointment, and even burnout.

Half of the managers surveyed reported having fired a Gen Z worker who directly reported to them, and many expressed concerns about poor work ethics, excessive phone use, and tension among multi-generational teams.

So, the question for our readers is: Is Gen Z Causing Management Turnover?

Here is the opinion of one of the McCalmon editorial staff:

Jack McCalmon, Esq.

According to the survey cited above, 82 percent of managers are not considering leaving and that means a large majority of managers do not leave because of Gen Z. Gen Z presents unique challenges, for sure, but so has every generation including Millennials, Gen X, and Boomers. If addressing challenges makes a manager want to leave, it may be that person is not management material.
